Mayor Apatang attends municipal council session, assures full collaboration

MAYOR David M. Apatang attended the first session of the 13th Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council and assured his full cooperation, its Chairwoman Antonia Tudela said.

“He was more than willing to help us,” Tudela told reporters after the session on Thursday afternoon.

She said the mayor inquired about the programs of the municipal council and how the mayor’s office could help implement them.

She said they discussed with the mayor the council’s Neighborhood Watch Task Force, village revitalization and adopt-a-place programs.

The mayor, for his part, urged the municipal council to support his office’s student exchange program.

Tudela said she, council vice chairwoman Alice S. Igitol and member Lareina Camacho also discussed future projects with the mayor.

She said Apatang is considering a new building for the municipal council and the mayor’s office in Chalan Kanoa.

The current municipal council building is situated near the nursery of the mayor’s office.

Tudela said the proposed building would benefit the community because it is more accessible.
