TWELVE poolees from Saipan will undergo boot camp training from March to August at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, CNMI Marine Recruitment Officer Staff Sgt. Rodney Deleon Guerrero said.
Some of the pooles undergoing physical training will graduate from high school in June, while others have already completed their high school education in 2013 and 2014.
The poolees are Leonardo Cristobal, who graduated from Marianas High School in 2013; Anthony Deleon Guerrero, Saipan Southern High School, 2013; Carl Mojica, MHS, 2014; Carlo Ocaya, MHS, 2014; Samantha Amog, SSHS, 2014; and Robin Basto, SSHS, 2014.
Basto is residing on Guam but enlisted on Saipan, Deleon Guerrero said.
Those who are to graduate from high school this June are Matthew Terry, Torcua Tudela and Isaiah Laniyo, all from MHS, and David Palacios of Kagman High School. After graduation they will proceed to the states for boot camp training.
Don Ryan Tumaquip, a Northern Marianas College students, has also decided to join the Marine Corps, he added.
âWe try to accommodate them,â Deleon Guerrero said.
Physical training is conducted every Friday, and the poolees have been cooperative, he added.
âThey have no complaints. They are determined and follow orders,â he said.
This month, Deleon Guerrero said they have a âgood turnoutâ in the number of poolees â" those who have already enlisted are are in the âpoolâ awaiting their ship date to boot camp.
Deleon Guerrero expressed confidence that the number of recruits in the CNMI will continue to increase every year.
