THE Saipan mayorâs dog-control program started its stray dog removal campaign yesterday in Koblerville and Chinatown which will continue until March 6.
Last week, the dog-control program completed its campaign in the Garapan and Dandan areas and impounded 48 stray dogs.
âThatâs a good number,â dog control program manager Spencer Marchadesch said.

Of the 48 dogs, only seven have been reclaimed by their owners, he said, adding that owners have to pay registration and impounding fees.
Marchadesch said even if the dog-control teams are assigned to certain villages, dog handlers can be pulled out anytime to respond to complaints of vicious dogs or dog-bite incidents.
From March 9 to 20, dog-removal personnel will be in San Antonio and Navy Hill; March 23 to April 3, Chalan Kanoa and Puerto Rico; April 6 to 17, Susupe and Tanapag; April 20 to May 1, San Jose and San Roque; and May 4 to 14, Chalan Kiya and As Matuis.
