ACCREDITATION is the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.âs top goal, according to its newly published 2015 to 2020 Strategic Plan.
The public can comment on the plan from Feb. 18 to 27, 2015 and it is available at http://chcc.cnmi.mp/index.php/news-articles/118-chcc-strategic-plan-2015-2020.
CHCCâs goals for the next five years include financial stability, new funding streams, audit compliance with all contracts and grants, obtaining a certified, qualified and licensed workforce, increasing consumer satisfaction and decreasing the incidence of the top causes of death and debilitation in the CNMI.

According to the hospitalâs strategic plan, these goals can be achieved through the following operational strategies:
⢠A plan restructuring the organization with clear reporting and authority lines, action plan formats and management team meeting schedules for the year, and annual retreats with managers, staff, advisory board of trustees and partners.
⢠A comprehensive recruiting and retention plan that will attract and maintain the most qualified and trained persons to CHCC, and is focused on fair and just treatment stimulating personal and professional growth.
⢠A Service Plan Code of Ethics that encourages responsiveness, responsibility, respect and accountability in a consumer-centered environment.
⢠A plan that ensures all CHCC facilities and program areas are clean, well-equipped, appropriately stocked with necessary consumer supplies and materials, and have appropriate space to conduct the best care.
⢠A fully integrated electronic health record system that will improve consumer and provider contact in a confidential and coordinated manner, and a comprehensive data management system to track patterns and trends in consumer profiles, presenting conditions, and consumer progress while encouraging research and the development of evidencebased best practices.
⢠A CHCC-wide consumer satisfaction and community participation plan that will actively and regularly solicit feedback and ideas for improvement of services while stimulating partnerships.
⢠A business plan that stresses the maximization of local and federal dollars while integrating new revenue-generating mechanisms.
⢠A plan to secure and maintain accreditation by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or CMS for the hospital and another accrediting authority for the Division of Public Health, Behavioral Health and the Community Guidance Center.
CMS will visit CHCC in April to determine if the hospital can be granted a recertification.
CHCC acquired the services of WestCare Pacific Islands to facilitate an Environmental Scan, SWOT or Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats Analysis, and Interim Action Plan in the preparation of the strategic plan.
CHCC Executive Officer Esther Muna is encouraging the community to review the hospitalâs strategic plan and offer their comments.
