BREAKING NEWS: Rep. Maratita removed from committee leadership position

SPEAKER Eli D. Cabrera, in a memo Wednesday, informed Rep. Janet U. Maratitta that she is no longer the chairwoman of the House Education Committee.

Maratita, who took the governor to court over the $190 million sole-source power plant contract and is one of the co-sponsors of the impeachment resolution, said her ouster is "clearly an act of desperation."

The new committee head is Rep. Ramon S. Basa, who already chairs Ways and Means.
